Black Friday 2026 Music Production Deals: An Honest UK Guide to Plugins, DAWs, Samples and Gear

Ad

Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November, with Cyber Monday on 30 November. For producers it’s the biggest sale window of the year. Plugin makers, DAW companies, sample sites and gear shops all cut prices at once. It’s also the week you’re most likely to buy a fourth compressor you’ll never open.

So we’re not going to list a hundred “deals” we haven’t checked. Prices change by the hour and plenty of “70% off” banners sit on top of inflated list prices. Instead, this guide shows you how each type of sale usually works, what’s worth waiting for, and the free tools that beat most paid ones. We’ll update this page through November as deals are confirmed on official pages.

Before you spend a penny: the three rules

1. Make a list now, not on the day

Write down the two or three gaps in your setup today. A proper synth? A better DAW tier? Monitors? If it isn’t on the list, it doesn’t go in the basket. Sales are built to make you feel you’re missing out. You’re not.

2. Check the price history

Many plugins drop to the same “Black Friday” price several times a year. Check the developer’s own site, sign up to their newsletter, and look at the price over a few months. If it was the same price in the summer sale, it’s not a once-a-year deal.

3. Prices are often in US dollars

A lot of plugin shops price in dollars. Your bank may add a foreign transaction fee, and VAT may only be added at checkout, so the headline figure isn’t always what you pay. Some, like Ableton, show UK prices in pounds. Look at the final total in pounds before you get excited.

Plugins: where the biggest discounts usually are

Plugins are where Black Friday hits hardest. Typical patterns we see every year (check the official sites for this year’s actual offers):

  • Big-name bundles often get their deepest cuts of the year. If you’ve wanted a full bundle, this is usually the time.
  • “Upgrade” and “crossgrade” pricing for people who already own something from a company can be cheaper than the headline deal. Log in to your account before you buy.
  • Single plugins at flat low prices are common from some developers for most of the year, so Black Friday isn’t always much better.
  • “Free with purchase” offers sound generous but only matter if you wanted the paid plugin anyway.

Told straight: most beginners don’t need more plugins. A good synth, a good EQ and a compressor you understand beat a folder of fifty.

DAWs: upgrades are the real win

DAW makers sometimes discount their software around Black Friday, but how much varies a lot from year to year. The key thing to know: some DAWs, like FL Studio, include Lifetime Free Updates for your edition (Image-Line’s own wording), so buying the version you need matters more than the timing. Others, like Ableton Live, come in tiers (Live 12 Intro, Standard and Suite), and the upgrade from a cheaper tier is often where a sale saves you the most.

If you’re just starting, try the free option first (see below) before paying for anything.

Sample packs: the easiest place to overspend

Sample subscription sites and pack labels usually run Black Friday offers such as cheap first months, bonus credits or big bundle discounts. Two warnings:

  • Subscriptions renew. Put a reminder in your calendar to cancel if you only want the deal month.
  • Check the licence. Use packs that clearly say they’re royalty-free for releases. Never use “free” packs from Telegram channels or random zip downloads. They’re often pirated, and you could get copyright claims on your tunes.

Gear: monitors, interfaces, controllers and headphones

UK music shops and big retailers usually discount audio interfaces, MIDI keyboards, controllers, headphones and monitors. Tips:

  • Compare against the normal UK price, not the “was” price on the banner.
  • Check what’s in the box. Some interfaces and controllers come with free software that’s worth having.
  • Monitors need a room. In a small, untreated bedroom, a good pair of headphones can be a smarter buy than speakers.
  • Buy from UK sellers so returns are simple and your consumer rights apply.

Compare any Amazon price against the normal UK price before you buy.

The free stuff that beats most deals

Before you buy anything, check these. They cost nothing, all year:

  • Vital: a powerful wavetable synth. Its free Basic tier is the full synth with every feature. Great for basses and leads (see our reese bass guide).
  • Surge XT: a free, open-source synth that does a lot.
  • DAW trials and free versions: many DAWs offer a free trial or a free version, and BandLab is a 100% free DAW that runs in your browser and on iOS and Android.
  • Free versions from big developers: many companies give away a lite or free plugin to get you on their mailing list.

Our honest Black Friday checklist

  1. Make a list of what you actually need.
  2. Try the free option first.
  3. Check the price history and the final price in pounds.
  4. Read the licence on any sample pack.
  5. Cancel subscriptions you only wanted for the deal.
  6. Buy from official sites or UK sellers.
